Cinema shows us that there are many stories worth telling and women worth celebrating. Whether they are warriors or fragile, resilient or lost, rooted in the present or with one foot in the future, the seventh art continues to reflect their place in our societies. In recent years, stereotypes have become rarer—even if some clichés persist—and singularities have emerged, thanks in particular to the efforts of a new generation of producers, screenwriters, and directors, themselves inspired by a few pioneers. These films, discussed in the cinema section of this thirteenth issue of Common Language, show the importance of having a variety of female narratives.
